David Fuller BPharm, MBBS

Chairman

Dr David Fuller holds degrees in Medicine and Pharmacy (Uni of Sydney) and has over 20 years international experience in developing and commercialising new therapeutic products in both large and small cap environments.  His R&D experience encompasses all stages of product development and commercialisation including Pre-clinical,  Clinical Development, Regulatory Approval, product launch and on-market support (Medical Affairs).   David has had direct leadership roles in four product approvals (US/EU), had multiple FDA and EMEA interactions and has designed and executed numerous Phase I-III studies in diverse geographic territories (US, EU, Asia, South America) for both orphan and major market products.  His diverse therapeutic expertise includes rheumatology/inflammation, renal medicine, oncology, CNS / analgesia, dermatology, gastroenterology and infectious disease products across small and large molecule, drug delivery and antibody platforms.

Most recently David was Chief Medical Officer of Arana Therapeutics (Australia) where he successfully established the medical and clinical function, secured the company’s maiden IND, designed and executed 5 Phase I-II clinical trials and helped transition the company to become a successful takeover target (Cephalon Inc, August 2009). David also has strong commercial management and oversight experience from successfully managing his own businesses as well as participating in senior management of publically listed companies (CeNeS (UK), Orphan Medical (US), Genzyme (UK) and Arana Therapeutics Limited) including Board membership of Genzyme UK Ltd.

Matthew Macfarlane BCom, CA, GAICD

Director

Matt has spent 11 years working in mergers & acquisitions throughout Europe with PwC Consulting, Swisscom, Deutsche Telekom and global data-communications company Equant. Matthew led Swisscom’s $300m investment in Malaysia and over US$50m of venture capital investments into early stage start-ups on behalf of Equant. He also led that company’s negotiations for the US$8 billion merger with Global One as part of a majority sale of Equant to France Telecom. Matthew co-founded the Web 2.0 technology start-up, Vibe Capital raising over $2.7m of funding for the business. Vibe launched the niche parenting community Minti in March 2006 and licensed its core technology to US-based GreatSchools.net in 2007. Matt has been CFO of Vibe Capital since its creation. Most recently Matthew co-founded the venture capital business Yuuwa Capital LP which was successful in obtaining access to the Federal Government’s $20m matching Innovation Investment Fund program.

Director

James is a Founder and Investment Director at Yuuwa Capital LP, a venture capital firm based in Western Australia.

James has broad experience initiating and managing health technology companies. As CEO of both public and private companies, he has a strong track record in transitioning academic research projects through to regulatory approvals, production and marketing launches on time and within budget.

James was previously Managing Director of two medical device companies, ASX-listed Resonance Health Ltd and Argus Biomedical Pty Ltd, both of which took their products to market under his guidance.  He is also a co-Founder and former CSO and Director of iCeutica, Inc., a clinical stage nano drug reformulation company. He was CEO of Dimerix prior to establishing Yuuwa Capital.

Mark Ashton PhD

Director

Dr Mark Ashton joined UniQuest in 2010.  Previous to joining UniQuest Dr Ashton was the Executive Vice President, Business Development and a member of the Executive Management Committee of Evotec AG, a publically listed, European based Biotech/CRO. He led a team responsible for the global commercial and marketing activities of Evotec with the world’s leading Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology companies.  Prior to leading the business development group Dr Ashton was President, Discovery Services at Evotec, responsible for the Drug Discovery division of Evotec; a division of medicinal chemists and biologists involved in projects ranging from high throughput screening through parallel synthesis and lead optimisation to pre-clinical development. Dr Ashton has worked within the biotech and pharmaceutical industry for the past 17 years. He is the author and co-author on a number of peer reviewed scientific publications and named inventor on a number of patent applications.
